  • Getting to Belfast

Getting to Belfast

We are Closer Than You Think

Accessible from three airports, getting to Belfast couldn’t be easier.

With all major UK cities within an hour’s flying time, you can also fly direct to Belfast from over 20 European cities and a number of North American locations. And once you arrive, you’ll find it’s just as easy to get around as it was getting here.

Belfast International Airport is situated just 18 miles (29 km) north-west of Belfast and is easily accessed via the major road and motorway network.

With excellent links to public transport and all major routes in and out of Belfast city centre, getting to or from Belfast City Airport couldn’t be easier.

Dublin Airport is accessible by over 1,000 buses and coaches daily. From the airport, you can reach many areas in and around Dublin, as well as various towns and cities across Ireland, including Belfast city centre. The bus departs every hour and, if you take the direct bus, the journey will take around two hours. Please visit Translink and Bus Éireann for more information about the bus services from Dublin Airport. Other operators are available.

NOTE: Northern Ireland forms part of the United Kingdom. Separate visa requirements apply for travel in the Republic of Ireland. As there is no physical border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland you will not pass through UK immigration control if arriving to Belfast through Dublin. As such, your passport will not be endorsed with a UK entry stamp. This may affect your ability at a later date to evidence your date of entry to the UK (e.g. if applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).

Enterprise is the flagship train service that links Belfast and Dublin. Jointly operated by NI Railways and Iarnród Éireann. The service provides eight journeys in each direction, Monday to Saturday, and five journeys in each direction on Sundays.

By Road: Queen’s is located in south central Belfast and, as such, is close to both Northern Ireland’s main motorways, connecting it easily with the rest of Ireland.

Belfast is a harbour city and can also be reached by sea with regular crossings from both Scotland and England. Operators and travel times vary. Please check out Stena Line and P&O Irish Sea for more information.
